Weapons: Light Weapons


The navigation laser is the weakest weapon available. It doesn't damage the hull and does very little damage to ship systems.Best replaced as soon as possible.
The standard SpaceTech laser is a solid weapon in the "low-tech" area. It doesn't damage the hull but is able to quickly disable a ships subsystems.
The AeroSpace Mark I laser is a major improvment over the standard SpaceTech laser. Although the damage per shot is lower than that of the SpaceTech laser this is compensated by its higher rate of fire. Another feature is that this laser if finally able to pierce through weak enemy shields. The Mark II version is identical in all aspects except the shield piercing capabilities which have been improved in the newer version.
The AeroSpace Mark III laser is a very dangerous weapon. It combines a high rate of fire with a moderate amount of damage per shot and good shield piercing capabilities.
The light version of the AeroSpace Mark III laser.It does less damage but has a higher rate of fire and is more precise than the heavy version.
OSEC also managed to improve the standard SpaceTech laser using Raptor technology. As usual, OSEC emphasized brute force over finesse. The OSEC laser does even more damage per shot than the original Raptor version but is less precise than the AeroSpace Mark III version.
The Rapid torpedo launcher is an attempt to increase a ships fire power by installing a hull damaging weapon in a light weapon slot. The launcher holds 6 missiles which are fired in one volley. This weapon is quite useful in short, brutal fights but it's virtually useless in any prolonged engagement.
The Mark II version of the Rapid torpedo launcher holds 6 of the advanced MarkII torpedos. They inflict a good deal of damage per shot, and while they can't penetrate enemy shielding they will severly damage a shield systems integrity.
After a lot of research AeroSpaces scientists were finally able to manufacture a working version of the widely used quick firing plasma gun. It doesn't inflict a lot of damage per shot but has a very high firing rate and is the best hull damaging weapon in the light weapons section.
The Raptor energy shell is the only shield draining weapon availabe to AeroSpaces forces for quite some time. It's not very effective in comparison with the ISAs arsenal.
The improved version of the Raptor energy shell is very effective. It's only slightly weaker than the best ISA shield draining weapon.
